It's a good smoke, and if it dries out I'm not out much. I have somewhat always liked it, but was never nothing to write home about. BCA is a must have in your stock. It smokes cool & mild & after setting your pipe down a good while to cool I picked at it a little and noticed that it was still smoldering. Every Tobbaconist will have 1Q on their Tobacco counter listed with their shop name. I have mixed it with Lane hazelnut and Mac Baren Vanilla Cream. Captain Cool and other aromatics that are indeed very cool smoking, nonetheless do not stand up to this blend. It came relatively dry, but still somewhat "dry sticky" to the touch. I have to really dry out the BCA using my microwave method, almost nuking it crispy. Before the H&H had been just okay,and the BCA was way too light to smoke by itself, but blended 50/50 it's a delight! I don't care how good this tobacco is--sludge coated bowls are unacceptable. It's that good. I mix mine, 4 ounces of BCA to 4 ounces of 1-Q which tames the golden Cavendish and gives the BCA flavor. And I am willing to lay odds, that as long as you are not a a tobacco snob, who shuns aromatics, you have smoked this tobacco, and liked it. Giving my impressions of the Karl Erik freehand, as well of this famous aromatic mixture, Lane's 1Q/BCA. Since it's strictly a Black Cavendish blend it will smoke longer than typical Va/Burley or Va/Cavendish blends so, you definitely want to set aside a bit more time to enjoy it. He never minds being interrupted. BCA is more complex than most cavendishes, and is solid for any aromatic smokers. Liquor and chocolate are the first to disappear, sugar hangs out a little longer, and vanilla is the last to go at 3/4's the way. If you happen to be out in the sunlight, a magnifying glass from a box of Cracker Jacks will save on matches. I suppose this could be an all-day smoke due to how mild it is, but why would you pick it over anything else? I tend to prefer aromatics that are made with Burley, Virginia and brown Cavendish or a combination thereof. Mac Baren Seven Seas Black --- No bite, good flavor while and after smoking, good room aroma. I added pure Latakia (25% approx) yesterday and was in heaven. This BCA blend is better than 1Q. Nothing exciting by any means, but I keep it around for the rare ocassions when my sweet tooth attacks, as its one of the few heavily-cased blends that I can stand. 1Q also has black cavendish in it. While I can see this as a blending tool I generaly dont like it by itself. The aftertaste is not unpleasant and not too strong.
